The house in Ein Yaakov
There are people with whom I always feel at home, no matter where I am. Tali Dugma is one of them. I met Tali, the interior designer and home planner, when we started collaborating on various projects.
To be honest, our joint work is much more than "just" collaboration. The success of both of us is attributed to our loyalty, our understanding of the home's needs, its character, and the unique design style that suits it. Moreover, our joint work largely depends on mutual fertilization. All these important building blocks also contributed greatly to the success of the last project: designing Tali's own home.
Although she has accompanied hundreds of projects in the last six years, and even published the book "Feeling at Home," which outlines the path to designing the complete and perfect home for readers interested in designing their homes – Tali still approached her own home design project in Ein Yaakov with mixed feelings.
She had to pause for a moment, analyze her family unit, and from it, sketch the home she desired. As a versatile interior designer who loves a range of colors and design styles, she wanted to give herself exactly what she manages to give the families she works with. She wanted to "feel at home."
And now, I am very happy and excited to announce that, after much effort, we succeeded! Tali adapted the house, its style, its character, and its colors – to her and her family. And I, as the owner of AV Design Studio, brought to the house the complementary items and accessories, all, of course, made from recycled Corian material.
A little about the family
A couple and two teenage sons. Such a group whose main days revolve around the dining table.
The conversations, the meals, homework preparation, crises alongside joys. All these and more are woven together around the dining table.
The dining area was designed as an integral part of the kitchen space. The material chosen is solid wood, African walnut, which warms the dark gray spot that the kitchen fronts received.
For the dynamic and bustling home, Tali introduced a calm color palette that softens the atmosphere. Dark green and dark gray.
The house is like a roadside inn that contains passersby, just as the dining area contains and envelops the days and events that take place in the house.
Some homes are characterized by distinct family elements such as photos, children's drawings from different periods.
In this house, the elements are not distinct, but behind every piece of furniture and every element, there is a story.
Most of the house's furniture was collected from different places and given a look that matches the character of the house: funny, sad, or exciting stories.
A home of memories and life stories.
Living Room
The living room table was built by the homeowner as a box in which shells and quartz stones collected by the two sons when they were little children were placed.
The collection of stones and shells became precious the moment it was collected by the sons.
An experience from a trip to the Golan Heights preserved within a living room table.
On the table, there is a tray with an assortment of candlesticks from AV Studio's KAN series in different sizes that create different colors from the rest of the space.
In the living room, two pictures made of shells are hanging. The same collection of shells from the sons that became pictures created by the parents with the children.
The exit from the living room
At sunset, it's most enjoyable to sit on the two armchairs located on the way out – to the garden, to nature.
Orange sun rays paint the two armchairs in warmth. These are the quiet hours of the house. When the wind blows, the soft white curtain moves gently, adding a calm atmosphere. When it is drawn aside, a charming corner is revealed, a deck and hammocks: another corner to relax in.
The Green Wall
Opposite the living room, there is a wall painted in a deep green color. A wall that is a transition between the public and private spaces.
The homeowner created a metal dresser combined with marble, which adds luxury.
On the dresser, a pair of black candlesticks from the PAMOT series were placed, perfectly complementing the bar stool and the glass vases with flowers.
The combination of materials, colors, and textures creates drama and grandeur with the wall.
The dark green wall balances and softens the energies of the house.
Kitchen and Dining Area
A long dining table that accommodates a large number of people for a family that often hosts friends and family.
On the dining table, four vases in an interesting composition. Each vase contains different items: flowers, keys, wallets.
They also have a splash of color that brightens the calm space.
To complete the look, additional vases were chosen for the countertop.
In the kitchen, two shelves with a growing collection of glasses, alongside clear jars with legumes. Raw materials for cooking that decorate the kitchen.
Bathroom
The place where body and soul relax. It was important for Tali to incorporate an interesting combination of materials in this space: wood, marble, metal alongside artworks and decorative elements. The introduction and combination of materials, for example, the mirror and lamps purchased at the flea market and an artwork by Kobi Sibony, instill calm and a pleasant experience for anyone entering the toilet and shower.
The house, with its composition of materials and colors, reflects the occupants and instills calm from their busy days. Grays that soften energies, greens that balance, gold that awakens, a little burgundy and yellow that enliven the entire space.
The house is a collection of memories, experiences, stories, furniture, events, colors, materials, and textures, all of which constitute what the four residents call: "feeling at home."
